New challengers?

Hats off to gymnasts at the US Champs. On paper the top 5 gymnasts scores look like World beaters. With that many gymnasts scoring 90+ they surely should be pushing for Olympic Gold.

Does anybody else find this a little odd? We all know that National Championships, especially just before the Olympics, will have slightly elevated scores but 5 gymnasts scoring above 90. Really? That didn’t even happen at the 2012 Japanese Championships. And for Orozco 93.05 and Leyva 92.95 to hit such high scores I’m amazed. Don’t get me wrong, i am a big fan of both of these guys and would love for them to be pushing Kohei but i can’t help but think that if he competed at the Visas he would have walked away with a 95+.

One thing that is a definite is that this Team final with the 3 – 3 format is probably going to be one of the most exciting we have seen for a long time with Japan, China and now USA fighting for the gold and the outsiders pushing for a bronze its certainly one not to miss!

One Response to New challengers?

  1. Yeh the scoring was ridiculous
It’s just so the rest of the world is aware there scoring high heading into the Olympics
To me, the US team is made up of too much talent such as orozco and Leyva, don’t get me wrong I’m inspired as a gymnast myself by their gymnastics and those 2 are great, but for me Horton is leading the way when he’s on point, not relying on talent, just doing what he does best day in day out in the gym
